OK Split off the responses from the CAB Brotherhood and Sisterhood thread. So that all of you can continue the CAB vs CIB discussion in a new thread.

I had an E5 in My Company who particpated in every single patrol we did until the night of July 4th, 2005 when an IED shredded his bicep to the bone, sent fragments into his throat, chest, neck, face, and tore a hole in his upper thigh you could put your fist through.

Doc Rivera couldnt get a Tournequit on him as there was mo meat left to the shoulder. The Brachial Artery had retracted when the bicep was Traumatically Avulsed from the elbow up. Doc had to reach in and hold the artery shut with his hands until we got to the CSH

qualified on the M107 Barrett at Cp. Croppers "school" worked as a member of the Sniper team.

He was a 74D2P5 NBC NCO working and holding an 11B20 slot(who under the Original CCB rules wouldnt even have qualified for that)

So go ahead and belittle him his CAB bigmouth, it shows the level of ignorance you have.

Good point fearless leader! Although I think the CAB is silly, I dont begrudge those who have them. And God yes, there are some borderline CIB awards out there too! I used to hate having some Desert Storm vet try and lord over me with his CIB knowing he got the award for little more than riding across the desert for 100 hours.

I still want my CAB for the 1992 Commie Spy Massacre though Big Grin!

You may see that a lot with some of the chest thumpers, who swear the CIB is going to wipe their azz for them.

I know plenty of 11B's who have CAB's. They just don't want to admit it.

And no desert storm CIB dude should ever talk about anyone whose has a CAB. 100 Hours in the mix will never compare to 12 or 15 months.

Never.

We've all got stories Sir. How about you ask the reason I posted what I did as opposed to trying to sound like you're the only one who has seen bad things in combat. I posted what I did because of what mrmixitup posted. I have heard waaaaaaay too many stories of how people got their CAB, not earned it, but had it given to them. You want to hear all my stories of how I earned my CIB and about my Brothers who didn't come home earning theirs?

I would surmise that your response in this thread was the wrong approach to take in attempting to get your point across.

Sometimes, it is best to sit on thoughts before posting them.

as you know...the CAB and The CIB are subjective awards with tight controls built in to attempt to mitigate the "subjectiveness". No award is perfect. They both have been "given out".

As the past 8 years have shown us, no one MOS has a "lock" on combat.

All very good points. Duly noted. And thank you for your civilized response.

1. What the hell was wrong with what I posted?

2. Where the hell did it go?

EDIT: Found the sticky. Still trying to figure out why you had a problem with my listing where and when I earned my CAB.

last time I checked & got hit- one on one with anyone throwing lead at you is a pucker factor, & there were occassions like at 23 easting and Talia airfield or as AS Salamah, where there was grunt work for a bit and down & dirty. If you weren't there then you really don't know. I also submit that 15 months security in Iraq may not measure up to 13 months in a grunt unit in Vietnam or 4 years in WWII. The whole point is that you engaged the enemy in combat and were awarded the CIB. Non Infantry types doing 11 bullet stopper jobs are now autorized the CAB- good for them- I will not look down my nose at them for wearing it- they earned it. I strongly suggest you stop trying to compare awards- there is always someone out there with a bigger horror story or more scars.

Both the CIB and CAB share one commonality:

When you get out of the military- no one f'ing cares which one you have.

Thank god you can't wear badges in a war zone. I'd hate for people to be judging me while I'm actually in combat: OMG CAB HAHAHAHAHA!!! Roll Eyes

I'm not wearing it when I get back home.

OK THAT’S IT! All you CAB /CIB wearing folks are to report outside for PUGIL Sticks at 5 paces, you will beat each other to pulp until one is standing then that last Soldier will smack him/herself in the head with a rock until you are unconscious. Then when the last of stops breathing the FLATLINERS will rule the Army until a new badge is created then the cycle will begin again.
