GEN Casey has commented recently that an announcement concerning the Dress Blue Uniform Change is likely to occur early this summer. Our guess is that such an announcement would be on June 14 (Army's Birthday) as previous major uniform changes have been announced on that date. Currently, the "Class A" version of the Dress Blue is not implemented and the Class A Green Uniform is still in effect. Marlow White is NOT a member of the Army Uniform Board; however, the industry's expectations are that the Army's Dress uniform will become a variation of the current Dress Blue Uniform.
We recognize that our Soldier-Clients will want to make wise purchasing decisions ahead of the pending uniform change. One of our roles at Marlow White is to function as an information center for our Soldier-Clients.
The test uniforms were so badly received that they put the whole thing on hold.
Think about it, grey with royal blue trousers and a gold stripe.
We'd look like a security guard on a river boat casino.
Forget that, dark navy blue is the way to go.
shuman14 do you have some inside intel on whole shirt color deal? I too am a supporter on dark blue. I have also noticed that the clothing sites are no longer offering the grey shirt as well. I do know that the Army Times wrote a story about how minds had changed on the grey shirt but Marlow White dissmised it in an e-mail.
No inside source, just what I've read online at the usual outlets. I can't remember if it was Army Times or Stars and Stripes but there was an article a couple of months back that said the grey shirt was on hold because it just doesn't look right in Class B wear.
It did say that the Blue ASU is coming, it's just being fine tuned.
And never believe what you read on a uniform supplier's webpage, they're worried about one thing, and one thing only, making money by selling you uniforms.
Thank God. I got the grey shirt and your right it don't look right with the blues. My wife said I looked like a mall security cop with the grey shirt. The only other change I would like to see happen is bringing back of the sewn on WW2 dark blue waist belt. The blues are great but their just missing one thing, a permanent belt.
I got the grey shirt last fall and agree with 11BGrunt14.
I'd much rather see the dirty blue shirt, but if we get it we need the leather belt with the US buckle! I'm also a fan of the large enlisted rank and officer shoulder strap rank for the shirt.
Yeah, stripes on the sleeves of a dark blue shirt would definitely look badazz. They would probably stick with shoulder tabs for officers. Otherwise, officers would have to continually take their rank on and off to put on their jackets (too bulky to fit underneath).
I think I know what belt you are talking about but would like to see a pic of the belt. I thought about that a couple of years ago. I saw it in a Vanguard book reguarding all the US Army and Marine uniforms since 1775. I think it was a leather belt with a round/square belt buckle with "US" stamped on it. I thought a pleather (shined leather) belt with open face belt buckle for NCO's and sam brown belt for officers would have been cool too. Enlisted could wear the cloth belt. The dress blue jacket just needs some tweeking like a waist belt to make it perfect.

I was thinking of this belt with the dirty blue shirt, rather than with the jacket, in place of the current 'stretchy' belt with the plain gold buckle worn on the blue pants: (Image from page 1 of the ASU announcement thread)
Wearing of a "Duty" belt usually means your on some form of duty.
For example, many moons ago, when I was a PVT in the Marines, the "Officer of the Day" use to wear his Sam Browne Belt to show that he was the OOD.
Also if you are considered "under arms" you normally have a belt on to carry the arms.
Sword and/or pistol belt to carry to the scabbard, holster, and/or bayonet frog.
We've sort of gotten away from wearing belts that way in the Army.
The current Class A and Dress Blue Blouses aren't really designed to take a belt.
You really have to have them tailored, add belt hooks or use those special irons that the Old Guard uses to make the belt look right on either uniform.
But again I think we were discussing replacing the current cloth or nylon trouser belt with plain brass buckle (except for Manchus) for a 1860's syle black leather belt with an oval "US" belt plate.
What modifications would you suggest for the dress blues? I have been looking at tailoring my blues so that the belt fits better with uniform. What can you do about the arm sleeves? When ever I salute with my greens or blues half of my uniform jacket rises up.
If you look at the Marine Corps' Service Green Uniform, you will notice it has a slight taper to the waist and that the back has a gusset buildt in that compensates for the arm/sleeve raises you're concerned about.
By simply doing that to the Blouse you will add asmart, martial look to the uniform and will make wearing the dress belt much easier.
A smiple solution is also to add two small, thin cloth belt loops to the back of the Blouse.
They should be made of the same material as the Blouse itself so if it is worn without the belt, they won't "stick out" but if you do wear the belt, it will stay in place and if you are wearing a saber, sword, bayonet, or holster on the belt it won't "hang" as badly to one side.

Actually, I was thinking of just changing the current pants belt to be made of leather and have the US buckle instead of the plain buckle. It would go in the existing pants belt loops so no modifications would be necessary to the pants. But, you would only see it when you were wearing the Class B version of the ASU. Maybe a wider (taller) belt with a bigger buckle could also be made for the Class A coat.
