Did a search of all the ALARACTS and on here and couldn't find a clear answer. Are the Marine Corps boots w/ the EGA stamped on them authorized for wear by Army soldiers?
I wouldn't think so because of the EGA stamp. They are of a similar design but I think the stamp is the killing point (good question though, I haven't found anything that really says otherwise). I would ask your Chain of Command first. Change of subject, the tan boots that look like jump boots but have canvas all tha way down to the toe (Tan Cochran Maurader's) aren't authorized. Also, all of these funky looking tan boots that has the different canvas designs on them aren't authorized either unless the Army issues them.
If you or the person asking is not a Marine, why would you wear them...to be cool? ummm no. Even if you or the person asking is a Marine you/they are in the Army.
About the only USMC uniform item they could get away with per the AR 670-1 reg as written is the USMC enlisted tie bar.
USMC boots are coyote brown/tan which makes them unauthorized. The EGA symbol also makes them unauthorized. Many Soldiers where issued the USMC desert boots for OEF II when it was discovered that the Army issue boots couldnt hold up to Afghanistans rugged terrain.
We had a guy in my unit who bought a pair of the USMC Danner boots up at Fort Drum (they got sent to the MCSS by mistake, and were marked way down because no one wanted them), and no one said anything. After a few weeks of field wear, the EGA wore off, and the boots were the same color as everybody else's. I personally wouldn't do it, but in this particular case the guy wasn't showboating; he just got a really good deal on an otherwise expensive pair of Danners.

I definitely agree that they shouldn't be worn just out of common courtesy to the USMC but I was hoping that there was some ALARACT or something that I was missing to back it up. For the record I am not the one wearing them but I like to make sure that I am correct when I tell someone that they are doing something wrong unless I am 100% clear on it. It looks like the color of the boot is the only specifically metioned thing, I didn't think of that as they look the same as the Army tan boots after they have been worn for a while. I could not find anything that mentioned having the EGA on them would make them on authorized but I also agree that it is unsat to wear them because of that unless you are currently in the Marine Corps. Thanks for the replies and information.
