I don't know the status of the ASU at the moment, but I would like to get married in the dress blues. Right now I'm an E3, but hopefully by the time I get married (AUG) I will be an E4. But the issue is, if I order the pants now, they will have the gold stripe. What if two weeks before my wedding they issue an ALARACT message or alter 670-1 finally removing the gold stripe from enlisted pants? I was hoping that anyone that currently owns a pair of these would be able to tell me if that stripe could possibly be removed without leaving marks from the stitching? Any advice on what I should do about this? Thanks.
Yes, a tailor can remove the stripe with no effect on the rest of the trousers. Assuming of course your blues are new, and don't have any fading from wear. I'm not on the inside track with uniform decisions of course, but I doubt the new 670-1 will come out before august. As of right now I would just go with the regs we have. The ASU has not manifested yet, so go with the old ways.

The trousers would be brand new at the time, so that shouldn't be a problem. You're probably right about the timing as well. Plus the gold stripe looks good, so I won't have a problem wearing it.
Order anodized medals from Medals of America. They may be a little pricey, but you will look like a stud if you are wearing blues. They also will match any Sta-Brite that you have on your uniform (buttons, collar insignia, skill badges). Go all out. I was married in my blues as well.
I will say that anodized medals look like gold foiled chocolates dangling from a piece of ribbon. It does not cheapen the value of the medals at all, just how they look to me...
I'm of the same opinion of the anodized medals. I like the sense of depth the normal finish adds to the medals, as opposed to the glossy gold look the anodized medals have.
Would wearing anodized medals with non sta-brite buttons and skill badges be considered "mis-matching"? Or wearing non-anodized medals on the blues with sta-brite? Of course, we didn't have blues or medals in PLDC when I went through in 1998 (wow, 10 years ago?! I'm getting old) but I do remember people getting gigged for having sta-brite branch insignia with regular issued buttons on the Class As. The 670-1 has changed so many times inbetween then and now, who knows.
Yeah, I'm not sure of the reg on this, if there is any, but I was always told that if you have something that is sta brite, then everything must be sta brite.
I'm fairly certain there is nothing in the regulation that specifically refers to wearing Sta-Brite on the uniforms and whether it has to be all or none. As a private in the 101st I was told much the same thing though, but at the time I never had any money for Sta-Brite so I didn't worry about it. I only wore my A's three times in the two years I was there, so it wasn't really an issue.
Please note that other services are not authorized anodized medals other than by rare exception where a flag-officer commander has directed anodized medals for the command's honor guard members
Now where did that come from......?
I understand its a uniform site, but that reasoning originated somewhere....
Anodized medals should be in the next 670-1.
*Attention unform gurus still on active duty/NG/RES...e-mail/AKO the question on the AKO unfirorm page...see what you get and post it here!
I want to go with medals, but seeing as I only have one, would that look bad? At least with ribbons I'd have two, and civilians don't know how stupid the ASR is...
I have always preferred Sta-Brite for my badges. From what I have been told, if your Class A buttons are Sta-Brite, then your badges need to be Sta-Brite as well. With anodized buttons, you have a choice.
I have also been told that currently, all new recruits are being issued Class A's with Sta-Brite buttons. Also, I have not seen anything but Sta-Brite stuff in the MCSS for a long time now.

Wearing your one medal would not look bad at all. I'm not bashing anyone's service at all, but I think people with two hundred medals hanging off of them, clanking in the wind looks bad. A person aught to be proud to show all the medals they have earned, but at some point you start to look like a mexican general.
if they are being issued sta brite buttons, then they must issue medals in anodized form....since they do not...well I guess you have an argument over wearing non anodized medals with sta-brite buttons...
Funny....Marines don't have this problem...it's in their regs that one can wear non anodized medals with anodized buttons.
As far as I know, anodized medals only came out somewhat recently. You CAN wear regular medals with sta-brite hardware. I know this because I've seen a lot of people with sta-brite but never seen a single person with anodized medals.
The anodized medals seem to me like a way for Medals of America to make more money.

eh, will look cool when im 55.
at 31...eh not so much.
I wore my nine fullsize medals with my dress blues a couple of months ago. I sounded like a walking windchime, but I they look nice. I do wish the Army regulations allowed fullsize medals to be overlapped. I've always liked the look of the old crusty British Sergeants Major with 12 medals all in the same row. Now those guys know how to dress.
