What is the cutoff age to become a pilot? I've seen a few different ages on different websites and was just wondering what it really was.

When I was a recruiter it was 27 Max for pilot training, but that was waaaaaay back. Best thing to to is talk to Officer Selection Rep at your local recruiting station.

Thanks, on different sites I've seen 26, 27, and 29.

I don't think we have one at my station, but if we do I've never met them.

Call your local Main RSS and ask for the Operations OIC, he can get you intouch with the OSO or can answer it himself...

Check on NFO as well. That may be a year or two older. I believe you'd end up in an F-18 or EA-6. Obviously, I could be wrong but its worth asking.

An F-18 is what I would hope for.

FYI regarding the future and NFOs from the 2007 Marine Aviation Plan, Page 33:

Naval Flight Officer Sundown Plan

Based upon the current aircraft lay-down plan, there will no longer be a requirement for USMC Naval Flight Officers (NFOs) in FY18.The F/A-18D Weapons and Sensors Officer MOS (7525) and the EA-6B ECMO MOS (7588) will be programmed to end as a primary MOS at a date TBD. Plans are being developed to ensure both Officer end strength and accessions are managed to provide the greatest flexibility with the remaining NFO inventory at the time of final sundown.

Sorry if I sound stupid, but basically does this mean the Marines aren't going to have any more f-18 pilots? That was my dream job.

The Corps will still require F/A-18 pilots, Naval Aviators, until all squadrons are equipped with F-35Bs and the Hornet is retired. The career track as a NFO, Naval Flight Officer, who is not a pilot, Naval Aviator, is limited since NFO MOSs will be going away at a yet to be determined date. If you're considering attempting to become a NFO, this is something you should take into consideration.
