I had to go jump off my wife's car this morning since the battery died and she works on the base. While sitting there waiting for this new Black N Decker charger to do it's thing, the sound of Morning Colors was heard. I observed 3 young Marines sitting on benches to an outside round table, with an umbrella, that is behind the small Gas N Grocery store. While Colors was played, my wife and I sat in the car, and the three young Marines just sat there and smoked their cigarettes. About 10 minutes earlier, I heard someone within a group of them say it was time to go fall in for formation. These three stayed and smoked, layed their heads on the table and remained there until formation time was over. My question, since my wife put her arm across my chest to stop me from going over there (I was gnashing my teeth at this point), is now sitting underneath something outside, now considered being covered and allows one not to stand and salute the Flag while in uniform during Colors??? What's the scoop? Thanks
Yeap, Naval Air Station, Pensacola. I did run most likely run across that 10%, like a blight on the Corps and NASP. To add insult to injury, my wife pointed out a junior sailor standing and rendering honors in his working uniform standing about twenty feet from these three.
