I finally found it!! Ive been looking for years for a model of a CH 46. Ive not only now found one but it has the markings for HMM 162!!
Its gonna take a little modifying cause its an E model and I'm gonna haf to rummage for old photos to get the paint correct cause they have it bedecked in grey. If any of y'all have any good photos of old 46s Id love to see them....its been a long time since I was up close and personal with a frog and I want this to be accurate. Thanx in advance! |

Don't forget about making one for Ron Mann. I can see him playing this for hours on end....Joy will have to take it away from him at Bed Time.....

Drmwvr,
What version of -46 are you lookin to build if not an Echo? The same company that makes the Echo version- Academy -just came out with a "CH-46A/D US Marines Vietnam" version. Probably save you a lot of time and headaches if that's what you're looking for. |

Sir,
Take that Echo back to Hobby Lobby, I bought stuff from them when I was in TX and they were always pretty good at customer satisfaction. Either that, or Ebay the thing. Hell, I might even bid on it there and make one of our HMX planes. Here's a couple links to look at for the A/D version: http://www.squadron.com/SearchResults.asp?offset=0 http://www.rollmodels.com/ Also look here for some fellow helo model builders: http://cs.finescale.com/forums/16/ShowForum.aspx |

Found zip at hobby lobby or squadron? http://www.squadron.com/ItemDetails.asp?item=MH12210 Don't know what's involved in modding an E to A/D, but hope it works out for you. Maybe post pics of the finished product? I'm currently trying to do one each of all the types we have here at HMX: VH-60N, CH-46E, CH-53E, and H-3. Should eat up most of my spare time. |

Didn't 162 have the glossy paint job with the American flag on the forward pylon when you were with them?
White lettering and numerals? They didn't start going to the drab green IR and black lettering again until the E models came out. All the F models were bright and shiny, if I remember corretly. |

If its still set up like it was when I was there, get with of the 'Sikorsky store' guys. They used to could get ahold of completed VH-3 models. . |

My brother got me the CH-46A/D kit, even though I never worked on phrogs. The markings are for HMM-262 (A model), HMM-265 (A model), HMM-165 (D model) and HMM-364 (D model). There's even decals for the inside markings of the aircraft. Should be fun.
