Dude,

Come on, give us something new. Old news is just that, old. If you want some new news, come on over to the hanger here at New River and talk to any of the 400+ Marines and Airman who live, work and breath V-22. They will give you the real story that for some reason you and your kind just can't get through your ill-informed heads.

The fact of the matter is that this aircraft is among the safest flying and it's 7.2 man hours per flight hour is among the lowest of military aircraft.

If you are going to come on here and debate those of us who actually know what we are talking about, do so with current and accurate information, not recycled out of date opinions of long standing anti V-22 opponents.

I wouldn't waste a whole lot of steam on 8469676.

There are a whole lot of similarities between him and our ole "buddy" from the past Joesmith44.

Joe's soul propose was to stir $hit and so it seems the same with numbers.

8469376 or who ever you are take Pavejim up on his offer. What do you have to lose?

Carlton, I'm sure they still have an open invitation to you also, sir.

But I would by pass Texas, if children are still in your future plans.

Ron

Who has been saying that all along about these ya-who's? Wa.... Carlton = Numbers. To this group Ron speaks of, the Marines who are in this program are doing one hell of a job. There are none finer. Sure you have a right to voice your 10 cents worth. However, when you do you it by the means you use then you end up indirectly bad mouthing these fine Marines by cutting on there program that they work so hard on. So when you get some old salts like Ron or myself then you pull this crap it makes us wonder if you realy did earn the title. By not listing you name or backgound there is nothing for others to go by. Therefore, all we know is that your a Wannabe....

Tom, I don't care if they like or dis-like the program, but bring some legitimate, up to date proof to back up what their Bi t c h is.

Also questions like WhiteKnight77's is legitimate.

I have no problems with who, what, when or where questions.

We are all in a continuous, state of learning, about the program and any enlightenment is appreciated.

There maybe some lead time in getting them answered, because the Marines and Airmen in the know are actively working in the program.

Work comes 1st, this is just a mear side show.

The active duty military that is with the program can not help what the politics of the program is or was.

They can not help what the cost has been or will be.

They were given the job of seeing whether or not the Airframe would work in the mission profile set before them.

It appears they have gotten their end of the bargain done.

Agreed, I just don;t like the individuals that use names with no background taking the pot shots. The only way to make a airframe better is to ask the questions. However there is a difference in asking recycled questons that are meaningless and asking new questions...

How true, Tom.

Sweetgravy, I didn't know you could pull the hub and blade assemble when it's folded. It does make a lot of sense though, for a shipboard environment where space is at a premium. We don't do it that way here, but we've got a lot more space to work in.

Like I've said before; I'm experienced but I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination as far as maintainance of the Osprey goes. Avionics is my forte' and this bird will definitely test your best guys in that area.

Its alot less maintenance pulling the proprotor with the blades on that to remove all the blades then the rotor.

especially when you have to wait on avi all the time LOL

Oh yeah, right.

Hey Gunny, I need to sleep off the affects of that Grog the Ordinance Shop Brewed up and aged for a whole hour in a glass lined parts can.

Could you get the flight line slaves to open my bird up, look it over, and service all the levels?

By the time their finished, I should be able to make my way out of the compartment and up the cat walk to the flight deck.

Oh, and I like my coffee like my women, Hot and Blond. Razz Cool Big Grin

Sweetgravy, hinklejd and RonMann, go easy on me since this is my first post. I'm only a civilian who greatly appreciates the armed forces in what they do and what they stand for. The V-22 will influence future designs in aviation (I hope). My question is, what are the chances of an Osprey taking a Saturday or Sunday cruise up I95 to the Rotorfest on Saturday, October 15th and Sunday, October 16th at The American Helicopter Museum & Education Center in West Chester, PA.

'Morning, Marines. Too early for beer? As the FNG, I'll buy!

Had to join up to refute some of the garbage being spewed about the V-22, the testing done, and the future of the aircraft. See, I'm the guy who wrote the DOT&E report--both in 2000 and last month.

I'm a retired Marine with over 400 missions in the SEA war games (flying A-4s), test pilot with some 4,000 hours in about 40 aircraft. Have ridden in the Osprey many times and flown the sim. Many of the VMX-22 guys I consider friends, as were some of the Marines who died in V-22 crashes in 2000.
I believe the Osprey's day has come. It exceeded all the operational requirements I consider important to warfighting. Those that it missed were pretty close. It can't do everything, obviously. It can't lift as much as a 53. It can't go supersonic. It can't provide the firepower of a Cobra. There are other programs for those tasks: the 53 upgrade, the H-1 upgrades, the Joint Heavy Lift, etc.

What it can do superbly is carry a medium load of Marines or supplies a long distance very fast and land vertically when it gets there. It knows where it is all the time, it knows the state of its health all the time, and its potential and versatility are barely tapped.

If you'd like, I can explain why we said what we did in the BLRIP report to Congress in detail.

Hey Test101…

Thanks for clearing some things up. I’ve been reading through these posts. All the negativity is old or BS. The fact that the Osprey doesn’t have heavy lift capabilities is meaningless. It never was designed to take the place of the 53. It will take the place of the 46, and do the job better, period. All the hype about crashes, problems, etc is just old crap.

I work with the MV-22 program at MCAS New River. I don’t know any pilot, (Marine or Air Farce), who doesn’t want into the program. Yes, I said Air Force. For those of you who weren’t aware, the Air Force pilots training for the CV-22 are trained at MCAS New River, by Marine Corps Pilots!

I’m just tired of hearing the same old negative crap about the program. Years ago the media was not given certain information, or allowed access to see certain test flights, etc. How many people do you think were killed in developing aircraft back in the 40s, 50s, 60s ? How about the space program? A lot more than we ever read about! I guarantee you that it was more than the 22 in the Osprey program!

Just to clarify, all CV-22 pilot will come through New River. However, they be trained by both USAF and USMC pilots. Currently their are four USAF pilots stationed at New River who are or will be AETC (Air Education and Training Command) instructors. At the end of 06 there will be two more on station. They are all on three year tours and New River in VMMT-204.

Wow...This is great!!!! and we welcome you aboard with open arms. Wait.....shhh, can everybody hear that! Dead silence...You see how quiet it gets when the guy that WROTE DOT&E report shows up. No questions you want answered now? No comments? Hell he's offering explainations to the answers you've been harpin' about for the past 53 pages. So there we have it...Let US do our jobs...We don't come to your place of employment kickin' d*cks outta YOUR mouth so don't come around tellin' us what we are Hiding or falsifying and I will be a more social person and we can discuss things on this tread like gentlemen instead of me insulting those to whom it applies. To all of my fellow bretheren who are offended, I apologize.
