Thanks guys for the help. I know this will be a long process, but just in case was looking to see since you are all a small family of unique individuals maybe there would be a hit. I already found out it was Futenma Japan and he was with the 3rd Marine Division MAW/22 between Mar or Apr 1977 and came back Apr 1979. At one point he said he was part of a recovery team for two CH-53's that crashed up in the mountains. He is not sure but thinks it was the 8th or 9th Marines that crashed. Since he has had his stroke his memory is not as good but I am trying to help him. His name is Walter Morris and nickname was "Mo". He had a friend that ran in the villes with him nicknamed "Kapop". He was a mechanic, sgt in the motor transport section. Then made motor transport chief SSG after he came back to the states. He thinks whats the use, but I won't give up so any help is appreciated and I am sure he would say "Semper Fi" to all of you.
why do you have a zillion threads on the same subject? all im saying is- its easier for readers to keep straight what your deal is if they can read it all with a little fingering of the mouse wheel vs. closing and opening half the threads on the list. pete
Protocol: Every thread should stand on it's own. That means, one should be able to read the first post in a thread and know what the heck you are asking or talking about.
If anyone reads this thread, they see no questions and have to guess at what you are even talking about, or rather, why you are even posting in this fourm.
One has to read the other 4 or 5 (also vague threads) to deduce what these are all about.
I suggest taht you learn forum protocol, BEFORE you continue to post more threads.
I am new at this. Is there anyone who can teach me? I don't understand what you mean "threads"? I have never been to a forum before, is there any guidelines I can read to learn? thanks
I'm not the best writer in the world but your posts where very vague. We all are Marines and we are here to help you. I'm very sorry that I did what I did but then again there was nothing for anyone to go on. One thing Marines are tought to do is be direct when asking questions, please be more direct....
Sirrom, I can't argue with what the others have said. You need to keep everything in one thread and add to it when you get more information. In the bottom right hand corner of the latest post in the thread is a Reply button, that is how you add to the existing thread.
When you recieve his records from St Louis, take them to your local or county Veterans Officer, they might be able to help you. Just don't give up when dealing with the VA.
Also there is a forum on this sight just for VA issues. They will be better equiped to help you than we are. I think JD already gave you this.

Ok, here's the 25 cent tour. When you go to "this fourm", you see a list of "threads": Subjects of discussion. A "thread" is a grouping of "posts". "Posts" are each individual contribution to a "thread".
Threads are started, as you did, by clicking on NEW Discussion link
To read a thread, you click on the "thread" or "subject of discussion".
If you have some additional information, on that subject, click the REPLY button at the top or bottom of that "thread", instead of going back to NEW Discussion
That should get you started.
New starts a new "thread" and Reply adds to an existing thread
In fact, you obviously know how to REPLY, as you have done that in "this" thread. So, I'm not sure why you are confused.
it's okay. most of us are just so used to navigating and conversing in these forums that we take for granted that everyone knows how to use them. ipscone gave you the 'barney-style' crash course on how to use them, its really pretty simple to get used to if you're not famillar with message boards. we're here to help you, but you have to help us help you first. pete
