Back in 74 the "wing" was never considered as being part of the"crops". Now I see job descriptions listing a very miniscule part of the 3072's. If anyone can remember the 3073'2 branched off from this MOS. Additionally the job description for 3072's listed everything from warehousing, recieving, procurement, inventory control, data input, documentation control, the list goes on quite extensively. I wonder if anyone can get a hold of the original 3072 Aviation Supplyman job description and share this enlightening info with our carrer search and fellow veterans. This way we can shed accurate light and meaning to this proffesion that has recieved so little credit. As I recall anything that was new or not understood was encompassed by this MOS. Ground supply "Box kickers" never understood this billet. However, I remember being an integral part of deployments that ranged from the "Saigon" evacuation through mutiple excursions parading thriugh 1st, 2nd, and 3d MAW's.

3000 of course being the supply field, the 3072 distinction was shed and changed in my time frame. When I arrived at K-Bay in Oct 91 the 3072 was changed to 6672 to distinguish it as an aviation MOS. I have seen varying definitions of the title, Aviation Supply Clerk, but upon the announcement in our shop that the number designator was changing to 6672, Gunny Kapono told us that it was now considered to be a technical MOS and Aviation Supply Technician was the preferred title.
I think the other MOS you are referring to are the 73s AIS guys. AIS computer operators are selected from the top 5 percent of the graduating students from the Marine Aviation Supply Mechanized Course (MOS 6672). That's what I found and explains why some of them had an attitude, but we had a couple dumb as a bag of hammers. Anyway it's 6672 now and I finished out my time at K-Bay in AWP, kick back as hell with no one to bother me.
In 1968 the Aviation Supply MOS was 3071 A few years later it was changed to 3072. That designated a mechanized supply man. We now had computers to help get things screwed up. I was a 3072 till I got out in 1976. Hope that helps.
