Hello,

I'm currently a poolee in DEP. My mos field is 63/6400. Can any of you suggest some reading so I can prepare myself for it. Anything that would help me get a good base of info would be great.

Thanks.

1. Make it thourgh Boot Camp

2. There nothing to study up on prior to your school. Make sure your math is up to par...

3. Save the parting for the weekends, you need to study every night after school or it will bit you in the a$$.

We always found this to be a useful technical publication, while out there in the Fleet.

What Tom said.

It's a tough school. I went through at Millington, TN. I don't know where it is, now.

Don't worry much about preparing. They have a curriculum designed to get you up to speed on math before you launch into the really hard stuff. We started with basic mathematics as a refresher, then did a TON of algebra, Boolean algebra, vector algebra, trigonometry,...I forget what else. You do that before you get into any electronic theory.

Pay attention. Don't party during the week. Don't get involved in the tech-school love shenanigans...

I used to sleep with my notebook under my pillow (I'm not joking) on the off chance that I would absorb something thru osmosis....

You will see about 25% bomb out of school, most them have one thing in common. They went out and partied on the weekday and blew off home work. Even if you don't have home work you need to review the week each night. 2nd chances are few and far between, most who bomb out end up being a grunt......

When my youngest turd was a 17 year old poolee, he and his buds tried tried to con his older sister into going into the local CVS drug store to purchase them some "questionable" reading material.

They told her that they were only collecting them and were not going to break the plastic cover on them.

Her reply was that they were a pack of little prevs, wanting to have a circle jerk, that she wasn't going in a public place buying that $hit, and being labeled the town Lesbo.

Don't have one or need one anymore.

Just like the time the kid and his buds invited me to go to the tity bar with them at the supper table one night.

Son, why do I need to go there when your mother will give me a lap dance any night of the week?

They blushed and I got call a dirty, dirty, ole man by them and a lier by my wife.
