How about WTI, anyone remember Maj. Toomey the AMO for MAWTS?

I remember being the only unlucky SOB at WTI with a west coast skid squadron, and the whole rest of the det was east coast aircraft and personnel. miserable.

VMA-513 Airframes from 99-01. We went to Okinawa in Jan. 2000 and I left in Feb. 2001 for MSG school. After going to school in Cherry Point all I knew was I didn't want to stay there! I requested West Coast and was lucky enough to get it. I didn't mind Yuma. Not much to do in Yuma but San Diego was a couple hours drive and Mexico was always fun. Yuma had the best sunsets and sunrises I've ever seen.

I vaguely remember Maj Toomey; never had any problems with him personally. Beer

I started out at MALS-13 and requested to PCS to the east coast after being there for 3 years...wanted to learn the rotary side of the house as well.

Yeah I am still in the Corps, picked up SSgt in Jan 06. I will be transferring to 223 soon. I can't wait. The Harrier community is so small. You can never run away from anyone. My Group CO was my CO in 211 when I picked up SGT.

I was at Yuma 83-86, VMFAT-101 NCOIC SAFETY & SURVIVAL(Seat Shop). There was a Colonel at Group, that had come from a tour of duty at the Pentagon, who was all "Spit & Polish". He would come down through the squadrons about once a month or so, and "No Sh*t", do a white glove inspection through the work centers. One day he showed up in MY workcenter and proceeded around. He came to a book case where our Tech Pubs were, whipped his finger across the shelf, then held it up to me and asked arogantly, "What is this"? I looked at it and replied proudly,"DUST, SIR"!He gave me one of those "What do I do now looks", then just turned around and left. I never saw him again for the remaining two and a half years I was stationed there.
