My son is in Pensacola Flordia attending NACCS. He loves it. He is so excited about becoming a crewchief. He does'nt know what bird he will get yet, he wont find out until a few days before he graduates. I was wondering if anyone here has recently gone through this school. I would love to hear from you.
Thank you
Donna PMM of PFC Eric

Walker I have a couple of questions. How is the aircraft you are going to be on decided? I thought each aircraft was a different MOS? I thought like at MEPS you choose crew chief for an aircraft. I have a friend at PI right now and he said he was going to be a crew chief on a black hawk. I was like WTF, do the Marines even have black hawks? Was it hard to get a crew chief MOS at MEPs?

Thank You and good luck!

the Marine Corps does have blackhawks- to my knowledge you will only find them in limited numbers and in one location. HMX in washington DC. however- your friend is full of ****, because at his stage of the game, he wouldnt have the slighest clue as if he would get into hmx or not

reserves,
Crewchief is under the AG program. One of the MOS options under the AG is Enlisted Aircrew. You have to have atleast a GT 110, MM 105 on your asvab to apply for this program. It is a DOR program. If you get lucky and get it, then you will go to Pensacola Fl for aircrew candidate school. It is a 4 week school. If you make it through NACCS, then they will assign you a bird. You get what they call a dream sheet there on what bird you want. But it is only a dream sheet. It depends on the needs of the Corps at the time you graduate. My son is there now, he got crewchief on c130. Talk to your recruiter about the AG program, it is an awesome program! Best of luck to you.

reserves,
I forgot to tell you, depending on what bird you get will decide where you go after NACCS. If you get helo's, you will go to SERE school in Maine, then you will go to MCAS New River, then you will go to CP for crewchief school. If you get fixed wing, then after NACCS you will stay in Pensacola for a few more classes, then go to SERE school, then from there you will go to Cherry Point NC.

You could go to SERE school in San Diego, CA. NASNI. The grounds are in Warner Springs. Thats where I went.

I could also be incorrect, however, as of 06/07, based on my kid's training after NACCS;
SERE @ Brunswick
Phrog mech school @ New River
Phrog CC school @ HMMT-164 Pendleton.
Currently nugget Phrog CC HMM-161

I had read where the Corps was going to consolidate schools on East & West coast (some east & some west) to reduce all the coast to coast travel.

I'm currently here 2 NACCS Pensacola as well. Currently I just started "Disney" week. This is where we get all of the rides. Low-Pressure Chamber, "Spin-and-Puke", Helo Dunker.

I was just informed that I was assigned C-130's. I was never offered a dream sheet. Everyone else in my class is still up in the air.

darkroninPIMP,
Do you where glass's? I was just wondering because you said that you are in Disney week and they already told you that you were assigned to c130. I know that if your vision is past the limits for helo's then they will assign you to c130.

Is this the standard way the corp gets it's crewchiefs? Must be nice, because in my day you went to school for your type of aircraft then stated out as a regular floor mechanic with supervision. The crewchief postion was earned through performance and knowledge of aircraft. I was a rare exception due to a shortage of people and chiefs. I got a slot fresh out of school and was crapping on myself when they handed me a logbook and told your aircraft is 619, a known hangar queen. I survived and loved the work
