Have you tried a different real estate company? I do not know of any buy-backs for the military. Some agents are just lazy. Look around and see what is going on. Alot of people risk the home not selling by hiring a cheaper real estate company. By all means, this is a major deal, do not go cheap. Mortgage guru is right, try to rent it, it all matter what the market bears. Here in Tennessee, I have a lot of military people who want me to rent out their houses, but it doesn't work. Just for the fact that it is still so easy to buy a home here, that people would rather just do that. But just look at who is selling what there. That will help a little
Definitely look at renting it out to pay your mortgage until the market has improved. It doesnt matter how good your realtor is. If there is more inventory than buyers, they are not going to be able to sell your home. On the other hand, some realtors will stick a sign in your yard and forget about you. It does not hur to shop around. You want an active agent that markets your home.
It is really sad that the military does not participate in any relocation programs that offer assistance with the home sale. Many employeers nationwide offer their employees assistance when they relocate, taking the burden off of the employee.
We spent 21 years (13 moves) in the military by renting. We hated to throw away the money on rent, but it was so easy to just give 30 days notice and then pack our bags and move.
Good luck! Lisa Edited for content by MortgageGuru
