I am buying a home in Texas, currently have Florida tags and drivers license. I am trying to find out if I can keep the Florida tags and license and still own the home in Texas, or if it makes me a full time resident of TX.

what did you guys do and any help with be greatly appreciated.

Your driver's license and tags on your car or irrelevant. What matters is whether or not you are going to occupy the property as your primary residence. Meaning, that within 60 days of closing, you or your spouse will physically occupy the property as your home.
