Last time we had weather like this, nearby Alamo Creek overflowed its banks. I've been asked to help move some sand bags in place. Also, we may be without electric power for a few days following the storm as usually the case. We have plenty of lanterns and candles for reading and some battery powered radios so we can keep warm with hot air from Michael Savage and Rush Limbaugh. Wink

For those living in the northern California, due to the late fall, you might want to check to see that your storm drains are clear of leaves and that your patio furniture and other outside stuff is "ready for sea".

Any truth to the rumors that the Polar Rollers + the Healy are being permanently transfered from Seattle to Miami or Key West? Big Grin

Heavenly stinks not as big as they say. Go to Northstar or Squaw. Went to South Lake weekend before XMAS. It's getting way to touristy down there.

The only reason I like Heavenly is because of the gondolla and they have a sledding hill for the kids. You open a casino anywhere, and tourist will take over the place.

North Lake Tahoe is nice, and the A frames the station rents, cant be beaten.

Some of the best cross country sking and snow camping in the state is found by driving about 170 miles north of Reno on HWY 395 to California's Modoc county, in the extreme northeast part of the state, and the Warner Range between Alturas and Cedarville. Even in the hight of summer, you won't find many crouds.

Most of the time, you'll have to cut your own ski trails but if you like solitude in the mountains, the Warner Range is it.

By the way, for anyone interested, here's a pretty good link to check out for safe travel throughout the State of California:

California Dept. of Transportation
Simply enter the highway or interstate you want info on and it will give you the road conditions. You can view CALTRANS Webcams aimed at most of California's major highways and freeways here.

Even more weird weather for Chi-town, the forecast tomorrow has 64 for the high, which would be a new record (59 degrees was the previous). Warm on Tuesday (56), then back to normal for this time of year.

All indications are that this warm spell is very short lived. Long range models indicate January will be a stormy month, and that should give snow lovers some hope for everyone North of N Carolina.
