Wanted to take a few moments to write about Thursday. I have several friends who are professional storm chasers and meterologist. I got a call from one of them last Friday asking if I was interested in heading down with them to chase an expected severe outbreak this week. My concern grew as this guy informed me that every storm chaser in the country was mobilizing for this event.
HIGH risk assignment from the Storm Prediction Center is almost certain tomorrow. Some meterologist feel that this event may approach the Super Outbreaks of the past several decades. For the third time this year, the Lower Mississippi Valley will be ground zero. I have seen some discussion by senior meteroligist that the environmental setup is similar to 1974. I am not one to ring a false alarm, but the new info coming out is enough to make me get up an post this at 4am. If you are stationed or live in any one of the states in the title, you need to remain alert for significant severe WX over the next 48 hrs. This event has the potential to rival or exceed what happened on Feb 5th 2008 which killed 58! I will update this as I can with new info. T |
