Should we switch from the 5.56 NATO round and go for an intermediate between the 5.56 and 7.62 rounds? I'd want the 6.8 because of the better stopping power and longer effective range. Also, switching from the m4/m16 would be less costly because all we'd have to buy is the upper reciever for the M468 and attach it to the current m4/m16 lower recievers.

What do you guys/gals think?

Question:
Should we switch from the 5.56 NATO round and go for an intermediate between the 5.56 and 7.62 rounds?

Choices:
6.8 mm
5.56 mm
Neither

You Yanks shouldn't have played your faces back in the fifties when we offered you .280, should you? Big Grin
We worked for years and spent millions trying to find the ideal intermediate round for NATO standardisation only to have you lot turn it down. Ostensibly this is because it wouldn't drop a bull elephant at 700yds or some equally spurious reason but in actual fact it was a bad case of "Not Invented Here" syndrome. That and the fact that I suspect that the inventors of both .308Win and latterly .225Rem were American and stood to make a packet...
