debate often needs comparisson. if one compares a situation to Nazi Germany, will that be construed as a personal attack?
i bring up Nazi germany when the situation resembles that government/movement. i use history to make comparissons, and have gotten critizized as "appologist". will i have the freedom to debate with all the weapons at my disposal? |

I think EVERYONE could learn a thing or two in such a forum if it were ACTIVELY moderated i.e. the moderator(s) actually interjected with tactical observations on both sides. Something like:
"RD, you are pursuing a tangent and not answering his question" or "RD, that is a straw man argument. You cannot build a premise like that and condition subsequent statements on it" I've seen you guys do it before, usually to defend someone who's getting pummeled or is out of line, but it doesn't happen enough. I think once people got used to staying within the boundaries of a real debate, this place could really improve. That's right Weezy, we're movin' on up............... |

What form of debate will be used and what rules will be used?...
