I am currently in A school in Great Lakes to become and IC. I will probably be a 3rd class by the time I leave here. (school is really backed up) I had some questions about volunteering to go IA. When you volunteer, will that change your duty station you get assigned to or is it just like being deployed? Does it really help you in your future career as a sailor as far as advancement? What are the benefits to volunteering and some downfalls? Any answers would be great. Also, do you know how much more you get paid?
