hello-im a 2nd class and have been in the navy reserves for 3 1/2 years. i'm a seabee and a veteran of operation iraqi freedom. i want to go active very badly but have heard it is very hard to go from reserves to active duty. any feedback would be appreciated. thanks. vangorp

The only way to know for sure is to talk to a recruiter...

Concur - talk to a recruiter.

Be advised that going active is based on the needs of the Navy. If the active Navy does not need you as, say, an EO2 they may tell you that if you want active you will become, say, a YN3.

thanks for the response. i am currently trying to get some feedback from a recruiter. i had no idea that it would be this hard to go active and figured the navy would want active duty personel over reserve. anyway, thanks.

Be ready to lose a stripe doing it. CCC here...and I have found this out with other members. Also expect that being a Seabee will be extra hard as we are all overmanned.
