Basic Training |
Hello,
I recently failed my prt and lost my chance for advancement because of it. I'm in ctt/ew c school and I guess im just not the best at managing my time... What I'm asking for is a work out schedule. I need to work it into part of my routine...as easy as breathing Since I'm in school, we're suppose to exercise as a battalion 3 times a week, but its mostly seen by the po's in charge to punish for lack of motivation when we actually do it. We dont keep to a aerobic/muscle/flexibility schedule at all. Our base gym opens at 5am, we muster for general military training tues/thurs and battalion pt at 5am Usually around 6am we're let go to get chow/shower/dressed by 7:30am for class/march off Let out of school at 1600; grab chow on way to barracks Usually very tired/un-motivated todo anything at this point, basicly have 4 hours to waste here, hit the rack at 2100 to get 7 hours of sleep I want to work out in the morning but? am I forced by my schedule to work out in the evening when I'm worn out? |

You need to make time. If it's in the evening ... well do what you can. I would also rather work out in the morning but most times it's in the evening.
Remember what you eat goes hand in hand on your work out routine. You eat crappy chances are your work out will follow suit. Does the gym have trainers. Most gyms have them and can provide them at your schedule. If you have a date with someone you will probably show up out of obligation. Good luck. |

You didn't say what you failed? Was it just one part, or all three? Was this your first chance this cycle? You know you can call "bad day" and do it again. When do you officially lose advancement? When your increment advances? What I mean is that for officers, they delay your promotion and as long as you pass the PRT before the end of the FY when the next batch of promotions start you can still get it. I don't know the answers, but I can't imagine you lose it right off the bat like that.
If you need work on pushups and situps, than based on the schedule you gave there is plenty of time for that. I used to do as much as I could while stopping one short of failure. Then the next day I would do the one more, and the next day do one more after that. You can always do one more. I did that 4 times a day; when I rolled out of bed, at lunch, right after work and right before bed. It's only about ten minutes a day and I went from 30 to 60 in one month to 90 in two months. If you are talking about the run, you just have to keep doing it. You said you have GMT on tues/thur. What about Mon/Wed/Fri/Sat/Sun? What about at 0400? I know it sucks, but some extra effort is worth it if you can still advance. |

The LT is right, you can always say it was a bad day. Did the CFL give you that option? He/she has to. Look up the current instruction on the PRT. I think it's 6110.1H. Also, if it was the run there are other options. You can do the swim or if stationary bike (if rated) and even the elyptical (if rated). The CFL's job is to ensure that everyone passes the PRT. If you fail then he/she fails (my opinion).
Since you did fail the PRT you will automaticly entered into the Fitness Enhancement Program (FEP). The CFL should be in charge of this and should be proctoring it. This is one reason why I believe that the CFL is the one that failed. He/she now has to do extra duty ensuring that you are ship shape enough to pass the PRT. While I believe that the CFL is reponsible, you are overal responsible for your Naval Career. Try running outside...it's nice out. Again, familiarize yourself with the current instruction. Where is your school located? AC2

I have never heard of having a swim option at A school. It was always the run but if there was a medical problem that may be a different story.

I have not either. However, it does not mean that it is not available. |

Here is the excerpt from the 6110.1H:
"Members who do not perform to the anti****ted level to which they had conditioned (i.e. a “bad day”) and failed the PFA may retest and record the best score achieved within the command’s official PFA cycle." This doesn't give everyone carte blanche to "do it until you pass". It says Members who do not perform to the anti****ted level to which they had conditioned, meaning if you have a 29% BCA and ran a 29:00 mile and a half you obviously didn't condition yourself. I don't know your particular's, as was posted erlier, what did you fail? Do you need to lose weight, run faster, etc.?

because we had some new words added to the filters. I will pass this along to the gurus who are attempting to fix the issues.
