Any thoughts?
I've been working within the Navy Security Forces for 6 years now and have not worked as an AC for many years so a conversion would make sense. I enjoy the fact that I'm an AC but also that I'm part of NSF. Would advancement be better? What are the ups/downs of it? I'd love to do an IA in an AC billet as well as an MA billet. |

All depends on your paygrade.. Probably not any better for advancement and may be worse. If you've been working with NSF for 6 years you should know this. Im a bit confused as you say "have not worked as an AC for many years" and 6 years working with NSF so it seems like you have alot of time in. They may not even let you convert as you may be to far along. The MA rating is not open at the top end like it used to be 6 years ago. MA2(EXW) |

ATFP,
I'm an AC2 with 9 years in. I've been in the Reserves since the end of 2003. Currently AC1 is CREO 2 while MA1 is CREO 3 for the Reserves. So advancing to 1st might sound easier for an AC than MA. However, there are only about 35 AC2's in the Reserves and they've only been advancing 1 per cycle with exception to the last where they advanced 2 due to the CREO 2 listing. With a lot more MA's in the Reserves they advance more, which would appear that the chances of advancement are better. Just unsure as MA1 seems to be at the Navy's desired level. Thanks for your inputs. AC2 |

AHHHHHHHHHHH did not realize you were reserve force. Definitely MA may be a better route and could lead for things to go quicker. Why didnt you post this in the reserve forum portion. Might have gotten quicker answers.

Posted here as it's for my career...I'm sure I could have gone either way though.
Thanks for your input. |
