Hello everyone,
I hope you're doing well. I'll get straight to my tax issue.

I received a disability severance pay (lump sum) in 2007. I filed my taxes for that year and received a tax return that included the tax amount that was originally taken from my lump sum. So, after receiving my tax return, I ended up receiving my entire severance pay.

The severance pay was not included in my income. The severance pay was deducted from my total income for 2007. At the time, it was too late for me to receive a revised W-2. Everything seemed well until this week.

I received a letter from the IRS saying I owed them money from 2007. The amount they want to collect roughly equals the amount that was originally taxed from my lump sum.

Any advice on how I may be able to solve this problem. Thanks in advance.
