It depends. Taxes vary by the amount of pay and dependents. Just like in the civilian world, taxes withheld are different for different people.

My rough guess is that the withholdings for an E-1 will be about 12-20% of pay including Social Security, State and Federal Taxes (the last will be very low with the stimulus bill).
