married, im actually going to wear my Normal Dress Blues. Not a big fan of those DDB's.
actually, with that said, I'm planning to talk to someone at MLC for legal advice...just want to protect myself incase of divorce. I heard too many horror stories from military members after divorce and don't want to get screwed in the future.
Dont forget, the buttons on the CG DDB are different from the USN DDB buttons. you can buy the CG buttons at Vangard. And you can purchase the CG shield there too. tell them it is CG sheild on Black.

I'm getting married in May and am in the process of putting my uniform together.
I really wish I could wear a scarlet cummberbund but what are you gonna do lol. Not sure what I'm going to do about that blasted combo cover. Maybe if I toss it in the air after I kiss my bride, the wind will take it out to sea!
Originally posted by THREEFLYS: What you may me thinking of is the alternate DDB which is your normal SBD with white shirt, mini medals and NO cover. Not sure about the white gloves, however I'm sure it's in the uniform regs.
HSC, IAW Uniform regs manual white gloves are worn, however no CG uniform is specified to be worn w/o a cover. Dinner Dress Blue, in particular specifies the combination cover is to be worn.
MK2, You are correct. All uniforms prescribe a cover. However, more then once I have been to dinners or events that call for the dinner dress or equivilent, where no covers are worn. The senior officer will usually make that call.
For example, at the annual Food Service Awards Dinner, ADM Allen was the senior officer aboard, during his tour as Chief of Staff. He ordered no covers for the event that hosted 100's of members from all the military branches. Hence no saluting by anyone while mingling outdoors.
Still having issues getting my black rating badge (PS1) and service stripes. Jacket should be here next week though.
Someone else mentioned on this topic, previously, that you have to call Vanguard customer service directly and explain that it it the PS rating badge in Navy Blue, not Coast Guard blue. They do a special embroidery for it. The hask marks are the standard USN hashmarks for their SDB, right from the Navy Exchange uniform shop on-line.
