Next month, I am going to have to wear my mini-medals. Ive never seen any worn before, and I have searched all afternoon for more information. Heck, in 9 years of service, I wore my full size medals for the first time this past month. No wonder we have such a hard time with getting "dressed" as some say.. its a big secret sometimes.

I have 5 medals, so I know they all go on one row. The small gold star is in place of my 5/16 gold star on my Achievement Medal. What I can't find is; do I still put the Operational device on it or not?
I assume the small bronze stars go on Good Conduct Medal as they do on the ribbon and large medal. correct me if I am wrong.

I've already looked in the uniform regs, and the medals and awards manual, and I just didnt see it in there.

Normally I am pretty good at tracking these things down, but this one I need a hand with.
Confused

The topic has fallen off the planet, but a few months back the same question came up in ref to the "O". Apparently the miniature version is damned near impossible to find. If I recall one poster mentioned that Yaorktown may be the only place that had them.

I just looked at a set I have.. I have the little "E"'s, but regular size "O"'s.... I don't remember if I had the smaller size "O"'s on my first set (had a set lost during a move)

Either way, you won't go to jail for it.. Wink I would give Yorktown a call.. they will mail it to you if they have 'em....

Wray... Cool

With the current state of the CGES I highly doubt that anyone can find what they need to get a set of minis together, other than the medals themselves. I always just sucked it up and sent them off to Ultra Thin for mounting. The cost isn't too bad if you already have the medals. And they look great whenh you get them back.

I normally go through Ultrathin.... Ive dumped about 200.00 this year alone on ultrathin. between having to get new ribbons since my set were outdated, then getting the "wear your medals" inspection/change of command last month. that was NOT cheap.
It looks a heck of a lot beter then doing it myself.

I was looking for the info, so I dont end up getting something back from ultrathin and assumeing it is correct. theyve messed up my sets before.

Plus, I DONOT want to show up to the CG ball in Seattle wearing a messed up set of medals.

I am going to go ahead and call ultrathin and hope they can take care of this order for me.

thanks

I wish I was in Seattle. I will have to drive the 500 miles up there for this Ball. Putting this stuff together is just a pain sometimes. I keep everything up to date all the time, but who would have though mini-medals. Never would have thought I would need them.

Everett NEX is a great uniform shop. Was in there in February and was amazed in how much it had changed since I was last in there. (as of mater of fact, it was the same week the Iraq war started)
Thanks for the tips. I certainly will get this all taken care of.

Bosn, you get the shield either with a special order from Vanguard or I called the Academy tailor shop for one.

Just got off the phone with ultrathin. They actually have the small o and will put it on the medal. Geez, Ive spent more then my yearly uniform allowance just this morning. between uniform items, medals and the like.

BTW, I called the Academy uniform shop for the CG sheild, the SK there said I would have to come into the shop for it. yeah, I am sure he was lieing to me, but what can I do. Im in Oregon, 3000 miles from there. So I called Vanguard and they will have it out to me in less then a week.

FYI, I got my shield and rating badge from the NEX - the shield was about $10, but my rating badge was $54.

Ouchies.

Master's Mate, thanks for the pic!!
