I am looking for a reference that will tell me what DoD awards are authorized (or not authorized)...particularly the Army Commendation award. I know in the Awards manual it states the Navy Commendation is authorized and I realize that the assumption could be made that if the Navy award is authorized then the similar Army award would be too but I was hoping to find it in a publication, message, note, etc. Anyone have any idea where I could locate that info? Thanks!

I believe you need ALDIST 077/99 available on the cgnet in either HSC comms page or CG CENTRAL. I can't find it through Google (so it must not be on the open net). I covers a good number of badges, medals, and the NCO PD ribbons from the Army and Air Force.

You got to be kidding me! Referencing a nine year old ALDIST? Let's not even talk about the age - the last line talks about the 'next' edition of ref a will be updated. Well - there has been a couple of editions and it is not in the current one! That ALDIST is moot!

Hey Phil.. how long are these "prior service" awards going to be an issue? Would it be that hard for someone to get the word to the Medals & Awards branch that they need to get on the stick here.

This has been a problem for several years.. I thought something was going to be done about it, but apparently, I was wrong.

Perhaps if one of the 'Flags' or MCPOCG reads this they can have someone do something about this problem....

Couldn't tell you. I have described the issue quite elequently to very senior people involved and am still fairly befudled as to why no improvements.

Well, it's definately a leadership issue.. and it is a shame that no one wants to take the bull by the horns and do something... particularly the MCPOCG and the or the other 3 E-9's he has working for him.

Oh well, not my problem... but if I were still in... you can bet I would be making a few phone calls.

Roger on the mute aldist, got the reference from the HQ office in charge of the manual. Maybe we should get a pool going as to the timeframe before the ribbon list goes back in the pub, if I'm not mistaken it was left out in 2002... Too much piss and moan about retirees around here (sometimes their info is current - any of you guys got a paper copy in your keepsakes?).

Belay my last on the comms too, only covers the AF and Army development ribbons/no comms.
