Just checking to see if there's been a change in the rigger's belt routing since ALCOAST 427/07. This msg stated "THE BELT BE PASSED THROUGH THE BELT LOOPS FROM THE RIGHT, THE OPPOSITE OF OTHER MENS BELTS". Also, in the msg "THE BITTER END SHALL STOP BEHIND, BUT NOT PAST, THE FIRST BELT LOOP ON THE WEARER'S LEFT".

We had a "fresh out of boot camp" non-rate state that half way through they had them switch the belt direction, routing through wearer's left loop and the bitter end tucked behind the belt.

Anyone out there know of a newer message other than ALCOAST 427/07, that supports this re-routing of the rigger's belt through the left and bitter end tucked under?

CATMK,
There has been no change in the wearing of the Riggers Belt. You are correct the bitter end still is on the wearer's left, behind the first loop.
I believe your "fresh out of boot camp" non-rate is slightly confused.

Brett, they are all issued the Rigger's Belt now for their initial issue.

The problem that recently occured was that "we" were teaching them to wear the belt with the bitter end buried under belt. It looked neater and cleaner in the opinion of the regiment. We have since reversed that teaching and the bitter end is exposed and behind the first belt loop as the ALCOAST loosely stated. Doing it that way locks the belt through the buckle.

It appears that your fresh out of boot camp non-rate is a little confused. But I will check the other side of the street this morning to ensure that we are doing the right thing over there. But somedays it's like herding cats over there.

Brett - since it became the 'standard' issue belt after the ref'd ALCOAST.

Mr M - That's why I can't wait to see Cutterman8s response. The sailor might not be the one confused! Big Grin

(WOW - typing it in at the same time!)

You still may if it is not the 'standard issue' belt. There are a few out there that I have seen that look like a mountain climbers belt with a lot of extra rings and such on them. 'Riggers Belts' come in multiple different styles.

DLA supplies a "riggers" belt, that the rest of would probably call the BDU belt...no d-rings or other additions.
