If you are a IT, ET, EM, or any other member that plays with volts then also see CIM 10550.25a 4.1.3.4

In reality, nobody cares about the boots, but COMDINST says you must wear the Superboot II.

Or at least as a BCM.

This is not true. You may wear any brand boot even as a BCM, however that boot must meet the salient characteristics and requirements as per the uniform manual. Plain and simple. They do not have to be the Superboot II. However, as per the R&S manual, the Superboot II from the UDC is the only boot authorized for purchase with unit funds. Several requirements that I will not go into must be met for unit procurement.

The safety shoes are high top (plain black, 8” to 10” high) safety boots with a reinforced safety toe. Safety shoes must be worn while performing work that requires protection of the feet. Protective footwear must comply with the National Safety Council’s American National Standard Institute (ANSI) Document Number ANSI Z41-1999 (as updated on 9/11/02.

Yeah, I figured there were different rules for the Airdales that I wouldn't know about.

I have a pair of the Belleville 700ST boots. I absolutely love em. They don't have that "choked" up look like the "superboot", but are basically the same style boot. They just have a better military look about em and they are surprisingly cheaper. I got them at Bellevilleshoe, com. The 770 and 800 are sweet boots as well. They have a special price for military members, also they have super great customer service along with free shipping. On top of how comfortable they are I added a set of gel soles...."yeah I'm gellin".. Cool

I almost forgot. I have a cool story of how unbelievable their customer service is over there. I had ordered the boot, after recieveing it I realized I needed a wide size. I sent them back and they sent me out a wide, again free shipping. I noticed on my credit card statement they accidentally charged me again when they sent me the second pair. I called them and told them my issue, after they checked it out the were so apologetic and said they would remburse my credit card and I would not be charged. I thought I heard him wrong and said "not be charged"?, the guy said yeah no charge, I had to pinch myself and ask another time. He said basically you are getting the boots for free since we made this mistake..Eek..I couldn't believe it and I thanked them and I will buy Belleville boots for the rest of my career.

It always pays to be extra nice when ever you call customer service for any business. They are used to hearing arseh0le$ all day, so when you complain in a nice charming way you are usually rewarded. You should see what I get Comcast, Sprint, and credit card compaines to do for me... Big Grin...djc.

I would recommend Rocky's! They are just as comfortable and light as my tennis shoes or go-fasts. Plus they meet all of the safety requirements.

Belleville's are sweet, but no side zip. Matterhorns are very nice boots as well. Have a pair of 1677's and 7866's. Love 'em both...
