I know this is not an official Coast Guard award, but in 1979 I was awarded the Douglas Munro award. About 6 years ago I went through a Divorce. Need I say more? It meant quite a bit to me, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a way I could get a replacement citation or a copy of the citation? Any assistance would be appreciated. Tks. Dave

MC, First guess is here: Committee: The Chief, Office of Public Affairs, chairs the selection committee, which consists of representatives from Commandant (G-WP),(G-CGPC),(G-IPA-3),(G-IPA-4),(GCMCPO), a petty officer first class from Headquarters Support Command, a retired flag officer and a non-voting member from the Navy League.
Navy League perhaps, they are the ones that present it. I'll keep looking.
Dave, more than several years ago there was a young BM at ANT SF who had lost his original Munro citation also. His OinC (Charlie Tanski the D13 small boat manager now or recently retired) worked through the local Navy League to get a replacement. If I remember it took several months but it was as good as the original. Since it's their award they are the best choice to start with.
Thanks guys, I went to the site provided and sent them a short E-mail. This was monday. Today I got a phone call from the Navy League. They had my record, but not a copy of the actual citation. However, he said he had some ideas and would call me back by the end of the week, and that he would do his best to get it to me. How very refreshing to find them so professional and helpful. Thank you again 7555925 and cutterman8. Dave
Dave, glad it's looking like a win for ya. The Navy League is an awesome group. I go my first real exposure to them in Humboldt when I had BARRACUDA. They definately set the standard for support of us out there.
I didn't know that you were a past Munro winner. But considering everything else you did in your career it's not surprising. If you ever find yourself on the east side and can manage a stop at Cape May let me know. We are always looking for out standing members to exposure the next generation to.
Bruce, Thank you for the invite, it would be my privilege. However I doubt that I'll be out that way. you know how us 13th dist. sailors are.(anything East of I-5 tends to make me jervous and nerky.) Take care of these kids, they are our tomorrow. Best of luck. Dave
