Hello everyone, my name is Richard Cecil and I'm a vet, served in the Army from 1962 to 1965. After many years, about 1982 I got into the entertainment field and purchased some really nice equipment and began doing Karaoke and D.J. work since 1982 and am still doing it ! I have a collection of over 35,000 songs in mostly Karaoke that date fro about 1928 up to the present day. My point for writing this is that about three years ago ( and currently), I did work for a local Nursing facility in Linden, N.J.) "that's about two towns away from where I currently live. There are some veterans there but this is mostly a public facility and I was "shocked and Awed" by how well they loved having the music and show brought to them once a month. I have seen a few cases of where some of these wonderful people have actually made progress in their health by having the ability to participate and sing ! I can't believe that right before my eyes while performing one evening that I witnessed a mother crying as she looked at her son in his wheelchair and after a few songs I had to ask her "what's wrong"? her reply was that her tears were for extreme joy because her son was supposed to be crippled from the neck down with little hope of any movement of his arms or legs...and there he was Clapping his hands and feet were moving to the music !!! I didn't know what to think or believe, but a Doctor approached me and said " this is a wonderful thing that has happened" ! I can see that music and participation in singing some karaoke must be great therapy because I think it could be used as a tool toward improving mobility" and it certenly has boosted our patient's morale and excitement when you guys show up once per month" !

I think that our Veteran's hospitals also deserve the same and I'm so willing...to provide that for them. I just wish I knew who where to approach so that it could become a reality. I think that putting a smile or having anyone of these prior Military folks, having a song to do or hear would greatly improve their morale and their spirits....That's my desire to "give back" to them in a small, but yet a "cheerful" way of expressing themselves through Music and song. Thanks for reading this and a Happy Holiday to all. Mr. Richard L. Cecil Sr. (MRL Karaoke & D.J)
