I am deciding between going for my last 2.5 years through ROTC or waiting and hopefully become selected for OTC. I am an older student (26)and am wondering if OTC is the better route at this point. What would be expected of me in ROTC as opposed to OTC? Also, how is the field training? I would appreciate advice from those who have been through these. Thanks, Travis

USAF has OTS (Officer Training School)

Other services have OCS (Officer Candidate School) if I remember correctly...?

Would you rather do training now, or after you graduate? Inquire at your college's ROTC detachment about the pros and cons of either choice. Also, each service has a website for ROTC/OTS/OCS.

if your AF, OTS is VERY competitive at the moment, and it would be a lot safer to just do the ROTC thing for 2.5 more years and know you will commission...

Can't speak for the other services
