Basic Training |
This may be covered elsewhere but I could not find it. I am sorry if I am covering old ground.
My son is interested in the military, specifically the Navy. He has decided to attend college first, but is still interested in enlisting after. The college he has chosen does not have an ROTC program. They have a dept aimed at assisting vets with their course decisions and military educational benefits but no ROTC. At a recent military backed medical conference I was told there are programs outside of ROTC which my son could take advantage of to aid in tuition and prepare him for enlistment after college. Can anyone help with this? He has been accepted and partial payment made, so a change of schools at this point is out of the question. Additionally the schools in our state which offer ROTC programs are few and none of them have interested my son. |

Motivation comes in all sizes. |
The Navy offers the Baccalaureate Degree Completion Program (BDCP).

Important difference: NROTC -> naval officer vs. BDCP -> OCS (Rhode Island) -> naval officer if you fail OCS -> Great Lakes -> enlisted sailor to pay off Navy's investment |
