Hi, I posted this in the Wannabe Forum but no luck with answers over there. So I decided to post this here in the MI section.
I am a prior service Marine, and I already enlisted in the Army as a 35F Intel Analyst. My questions are about my reservation (My recruiter told me that it's what they give prior service) It tells me that I have to report to MEPS on July 16 for transportation to my PSSP (Security Check) in Fort Jackson, SC but the start date is July 21 for my PSSP. My recruiter told me that I can show up at MEPS that day on July 16 with my car (since they have prior service guys that did the same thing before. They give the prior service a choice of transportation either plane or POV). My Questions are: Are those five days between July 16-21 are my travel days to Fort Jackson? Do they allow prior service people down there in Fort Jackson for PSSP (Security Check) to have their POVs with them? I know my report date for 35F AIT is Aug 4. I ask my people in Fort Huachuca and they allow prior service their cars their but did not ask about the PSSP portion. What can I expect when I check in at Fort Jackson for my PSSP and processing? ( I know I have to get my uniforms and gear issued to me) Thanks Sgt Vales |

my experience was that they did allow it but there was no point. You will be setup at the reception at Jackson til all your info is done and you are cleared to PCS, if you are an east coaster i know they do not alot 5 days travel to FT Jackson the max would be a day, even driving. I strongly recommend taking their flights and letting uncle sam flip the bill on both trips to Jackson and then to Ft Huachuca. You can always have your car shipped to you at Huachuca its very common for MOS-t's.
