I finally picked my MOS as 35F since they only offered me a limited amount because I am Sergeant and prior service.
My question is: Are prior service students in AIT allowed to bring their POVs? I asked the civilian guy who assigns the jobs. He said since its a training environment I can't bring my POV.
I don't want to sound selfish but not getting any jobs in the medical field, not getting no bonus at all and nearly losing my Sergeant rank kind of ticks me off due to the fact I'm going to be in AIT for at least 4 months plus the holdover time for security check without a car.
Like many other things, this depends on your command. My fiance is in AIT at Huachuca right now for 35T, which is 48 weeks, and POVs are allowed once the soldier reaches Phase 5+. Hopefully another 35F can tell you for sure!
I know that IET privates in both of the 35F companies at Huachuca can have POVs, although maybe not immediately. As a MOS-T/prior service, there is no reason you cannot have your POV from the start of AIT.
Like I said before, I knew people in pretty much every IET company that had a POV in AIT. The only restriction was they first had to reach Phase 5+. Since prior service/MOS-T soldiers do not use a phasing system, this is not a issue. Frequently MOS-T soldiers have to attend formations and training that are several miles from their barracks or housing. It would be ridiculous for the platoon sergeants to have to handle transportation for these soldiers as well.
