I read on this site that one guy was trying to get a 35M option 4 which I think is a Jump school/Ranger school option. Is that what 35M4 means? What about the other 35M's.

BTDT Jus Suum Cuique - To Each His Own |
You already had your question about option 4 answered on the other forum. No, the number after the 'm' doesn't mean that. it means skill level, which corresponds to rank. 1 is junior enlisted, 2 is SGT, 3 is SSG, 4 is SFC, and 5 is MSG and SGM. It's part of the 9-digit MOS breakdown. After that you see a letter or a zero, which is special qualifications; a two-letter or letter-number code, which is additional skills; then two letters, which is language code, or YY for no language.
So a new infantry private with no skills would be an 11B1000YY. 11B - Infantry 1 - Jr. Enlisted 0 - no SQI 00 - no ASI YY - no language If he makes SGT, goes to jump school and becomes a jumpmaster, and then gets rated in Persian Farsi, he would be an 11B2P5WPF. 11B - Infantry 2 - SGT P - Parachutist 5W - Jumpmaster PF - Persian Farsi rated ![]() |
