I have heard that 2/3 of MI lts. get branch detailed to combat arms. Is there any way the army chooses who is branch detailed or not, or is it luck of the draw? And my other question is if you are in the top 10% in the OML and choose MI can you still be branched detailed?

I thought it was the opposite, combat arms LTs get branch detailed intel. Because intel has little need for LTs whereas combat arms has a lot more LT slots.

Don't know how the selection process works though, just an observation and remembering the rank "pyramids". Also, my last two company commanders were infantry to MI.
