ALCON!!!
As we know, we all have had or still have security clearances issued by the US Government. We were or are trusted agents of that information and have sworn to the government we serve and the people that empower it... to protect that information. We must maintain than even here. We also know that because of our positions close to the command elements of our units that we are knowledgeable of several non-classified but sensitive operational issues (OPSEC). We must limit the violations of OPSEC and avoid them at all costs. Below is a non-exclusive list that can be added to regarding topics we should agree on to not talk about and if broached on these boards, delete them immediately: - Any classified information - Intel Sources and Methods - Any possible classified information - Do not discuss TTPs of current ongoing intelligence or military operations. Ok, so what can/will we talk about? Well, I'm far from the ending authority on this subject but: - Day to day activities of specific MOSs that we are knowledgeble on - AIT - Non-specific operational activities (refining the definition from goarmy.com for those who don't speak MItalk) - Declassified or non-classified duty locations (those who know, should understand). - Our units... old and current. But not operational activity. - Unclassified missions of units, those that can be found on the web and approved for release by PAO or the Unit. Others may feel free to add to this list and I encourage them to do so. - "Let the blood of the infantry flow through your veins,or the blood of the infantry will be on your hands." -GEN John A. This applies across the boards.
OPSEC is OPSEC. Don't violate it. You can add PERSEC to the mix as well. Name, rank, ssn, etc. is a no go. Use your best judgment. If it ain't good enough, I'll use mine. You can, and should notify a moderator should you discover a violation of any OPSEC/PERSEC information. G'day. "I'll be polite. I'll be professional. But I have a plan to kill everyone I meet." hey i am currently reclassing to NG 97b. When i have a clearence is there any secure discsion forums where some momre sensative information can be discussed, for networking and personal career development etc. discusions. Perhaps through ako or would that be done on the sipr (sorry cant remeber full accronim). Or if anyone would want to email privately that may be helpfull although i only have a yahoo account right now, and im guessing thats not to secure either. Perhaps a dead drop might be in order, lol. But seriously i respect OPSEC and PERSEC but of course im seeking as much information as possible. Defend the Nation!

The only secure forum to discuss classified information is on the SIPRNET. There are blogs, discussion boards, distro lists, and the like all over it. Use your AKO-SIPR account for your classified storage and email.

Can you gain access to the AKO-SIPR with an interim TS?

If you have to ask, you don't need a clearance.
Lets be blunt about it.

Miguy,
I have read many of your posts and they are quite helpful. Thank you. I do have one question. I am prior service (Navy Corpsman) and am transitioning not only into the Army but into a new career. Through my research in MI jobs the one that slapped me in the face was 97B but everything that I could find stated it is not entry level. I accepted 97E and leave for WTC in May then to AIT; 1)is what the websites state true that Bravo is not entry level position? 2) would you say that Echo is a good choice if my goal is counterintel? Thanks for your help and advise!!! |

I run the Army forum for Military Intelligence (MI) it's called MINet on the Battle Command Knowledge System (BCKS). We are behind Army Knowledge On-Line (AKO) For Official Use Only (FOUO) information. If you want to go Secret you can visit us on the SIPRNET at http://icon-s.army.smil.mil , another good source of information NON-secret is https://icon.army.mil the Intelligence Center On-line Network (ICON). Hope this helps |

Although I’m not MIGuy001 I can answer this question. The info you found is correct 97B/35L is not and entry level job. You can choose to go that route when you become and E-5, sergeant or you can stay 97E/35M. You have to be Military Occupation Specialty Qualified (MOSQ’ed) or have held the position of 97E/35M to become a 97B/35L so YES your choice is not only good but necessary to get where you want to go. |
