Sorry to bother you. I just took the Dlab and choked hard on it, only an 85.(i know i can do better but it was just a bad day). But what get me really mad is now all the offical website gives different passing scores and i dont know if i made the minimum. USmilitary.about.com, Army.com, and Military.com all give different passing scores and i dont know which is the most up to date. my recruiter is freaking out too because i'm the first one that she (and aparently the whole station) had that took the test so she doesnt know what is passing and now trying to contact way high up to ask about the score. So in the few days until i get some offical info, anyone know what is passing? and if i didnt make it, can i get waivered a few points to make the cut off line because i'm very qualified? like 95 on asvab and college grad here. I know i can finish DLI. thank you.

85 was the old minimum score that Dod had but too many people failed miserably with that score so that raised it to 95 as of 2 years ago, according to a staff NCO at 229th MI BN.

Minimum score as of a year ago was 95, still - for CATI Language. Never saw a waiver either.

Since you've never been to dli, dont get the idea that you know what to expect. its unlike any educational experience you've had. My class of 10 high speed (or at least they thought they were) E4 college grads (2 with college degrees in for. lang to include arabic and urdu) had a **** poor showing and only one passed the course work at also passed the DLPT. So dont think you know you can finish DLI because you're special and come into the army with a degree.

worst part is for you, you can only take a dlab every 6 months and if your ship off date is earlier than that, the army will probably reclass you to a non-linguist job.

I had two people who scored under 95 in my Spanish Class at DLI. They failed miserably and PCS'ed within 3 months of their arrival. However, they were not IET status rather they were interrogators who the army tried to screw them out of language training. Army decided to suck it up and send them, only to see them rock out in no time.

DLI is always better the second time around, if you can re-enlist for it - especially since it is 9 months longer the last time around.

I took the DLAB the end of May and was told that the Army was requiring a 105 + for entrance into DLI. I made a 103 and was granted a waiver for 7 points, qualifying me to learn Cat IV languages. Where did you take your DLAB? Your service branch liason should have told you the requirement the same day that you took the test. Also if you made below the requirement then they should have mentioned submitting you for a waiver that same day?

First of i'm sorry if i sounded arrogant, i didnt mean to. I know DLI is hard and in no way was i trying to be a smart ass. I didnt give my credentials to show off or say that i'm special, just to prove that i was willing to learn and work hard at school. i just wanted info because usually nothing is set in stone you know? and i was just wondering what the process would be for people that didnt make the grade. like how the paper works always said DQ with history of drug use but waiver are always possible. (note i honestly never done drug, just using an example.)

No one could help me on finding info on about result because on that day there was no one that has solid knowledge of the process. But i'm pretty sure that 95 is the passing for the lowest language now, which means that i got to get waived at least 10 pts. that sound hard and i only heard of a few people that got waived 10 pts but i hope it possible because it seems like not alot of people even take the Dlab and the army really need linguists. i want to serve to the best of my ability, wasnt trying to brag about having a degree. thank you

qualifying score to be accepted into DLI and CatIV language are two separate issues.

whoever told you that 105 was needed to get into DLI either is too stupid to know the truth or too lazy to find out on their own

people at meps dont know jack about dlab scoring - their job is to get you signed up and thats it

and dont get your hopes up, just because you have a waiver to get a CATIV language doesnt mean youll be placed into that class - why would they waste a slot on a person in need of an extra push when there are plenty of people scoring in the 120-145 range?

Have fun in french or serbo-Croatian

I took the DLAB in June and was told that I needed a score of 105 as a bare minimum. Maybe they only want linguists who qualify for Cat. IV languages right now.

Try to be positive if you can't get the linguist job. The DLAB is a very difficult test, but it's great at identifying those who are quick with languages and those who aren't. You can be smart and not be good at learning languages. Don't limit yourself to that.

DLI is the only one who determines what scores are needed to become eligible for enrollment and the breakdowns of each particular language category. Information given to MEPS staff is most likely incorrect in reference to this issue that they really don't care about. MEPS wants you out the door and en route to BCT. Everything else is secondary.

And DLI has multiple French, Spanish classes starting every 30-45 days along with Russian, Serbo-Croatian modules - the army isn't dumb enough to think their (L)'s requirements are anywhere near being filled.

Worry less about what language you'll get enrolled in and be grateful you're even going to the school, but not to worry because if you rock out - you'll still have nearly the same job, just without the extra language pay or skill identifier.
