Hey everyone. I've tried searching the forums and couldn't find anything similar to my case, so here goes.
I am currently in the Guard with a Secret clearance. I applied for it while in college in 2005 and was granted it soon after in 2006. I used marijuana in 2004 about 5 times. I was dumb at the time I filled out my SF-86 and I listened to my recruiter who told me "They don't know anything that hasn't been written down anywhere." So stupid me, I compromised my own integrity and said I had never tried it. I now realize how dumb that was because I understand honesty is always the best policy, but for some reason I guess I thought I would be automatically denied. My issue now is that I want to switch from Infantry to MI, and I will need a TS clearance to do so. If I apply, I will be completely honest on the SF-86 this time around. Do I have a shot in hell at getting a clearance, or will the discrepancy between the old SF-86 and the new SF-86 disqualify me? Also, if I am denied a TS clearance because of this, can it affect the status of my current secret clearance? Thanks in advance. |

I suggest you talk to your Security Mgr, He should have all the regs on that. I have seen ppl **** hot, get their clearances pulled then get it back. It all depends on the mood of the interviewer. I was the Security Mgr at my old BN and I say ppl get clearances that should have never have gotten them. I do know that they are alittle harder on TS. Again, talk to your units Security Mgr.
