I took the ASVAB yesterday and did well---99th percentile. Anyway, this morning my recruiter pulled up the list of available jobs.

Turns out there were two slots for 35W---I didn't recognize the code, but it did have language training at DLI, which very much interested me.

The recruiter pressured me to take it, but I wanted to learn more about 35W on my own. Anyway, I left and came back about 2 hours later and both slots were gone.

I'm excited about enlisting 35W after learning about it. But the recruiter sort of acted like I had blown this opportunity and that I should look into other MOSs.

Does the list of available MOSs update daily?

No one cares about what percentile you scored in

as long as your over 110, you can do anything - you dont get cool points for being 111 or 141

35w is a cool job if you like sitting in a room and listening in on conversations - pretty slick job if you have the personality of a rock and no people skills.

and you still need to take the dlab and get a qualifying score before you can get to dli.

MEPS, not some ******* recruiter are the only ones that have access to slots - go there to find out real answers.

Well, considering there is no 35W "job," I'll just add that your "description" is pretty stupid.

35W is just reference to an HRC coding that leads into one of the 35N/P MOS but you already knew that.

Both of those jobs would fall into the "sitting in a room and listening in on conversations" realm but maybe the reference to other things struck a cord.

Go later and follow up with MEPs

Recruiters only job is to get you to sign up for the army - where your slotted is not determined by them. a good recruiter will work with you and meps

You're a 35N/35P?

It is certainly possible to end up with a strategic assignment, but it is just as, maybe even more likely to end up with a tactical assignment. Especially if you want one.

To the OP: Getting the chance to come to DLI and learn a language is a pretty big deal. If you don't want to learn a language, don't take it and go 35N. DLI will chew you up if you don't want to be here. However, also understand that a lot of linguists are coming out of here and simply going to units for their intel skills and get no support for their language. There is no garauntee you will use your language in your job. If you do take the 35W job, you will have to take another test called the DLAB and depending on what you score on the DLAB will dictate what languages you will likely be placed in. If you are active duty, you will not get a choice in languages unless you somehow get it in your contract (which I don't know if that is possible).
