Go to boot camp. Go to a unit as a non rate and do S**t Work. Complete a flight physical Put your name on the A school list. Go to the airman program wich is 4 months at an air station where you will work out with rescue swimmers and if you prove yourself worthy you will be sent to school. Surfandswim. I have not read anywhere that it says the purpose of the AN program is for canidates to prove themselves worthy. I have read that the program is designed to physically prepare canidates and teach them about CG aviation. Promoting the AN program like it's some type of fraternity intiation mis represents the purpose of the program. Giving fuel to the folks whom see us a arrogant elitests.
The program is thier to help canidates prepare for school. The hope of the AN program is not weed out canidates, the hope is to make sure that you are at a physical level to endure school. Some people do get weeded out here in theAN program but that is not the intent of the program. Yes you will be screened, your progress will be documented. And if you should fall short. I would hope that the ASTs at the Air station would aid you in hitting your goals.
It may have been more sarcasm than anything else. Asking a question like that in a new thread seems pointless when there are so many already started by others.
I did not re-tread. But a Guy I trained with in the AN program did. He was a good fit for the job. He actually failed out on a very simple manuever. I do not know the in's and out's of the whole story. But the guy was not lacking in phyiscal skill. I humbly say that he was far more talented than I. So, My guess is just a stroke of bad luck. Re-treads are on a case by case basis. The instructors could see this AN's talent and dedication. So he got another shot. The next time through he did a great job I hear.
