Brotherhood of the Fin, A Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer's Story is finally finished and being released on June 15th, 2007. Anyone that has known me, remembers how strongly the urge to write this book was for me. I am inviting all readers of Fredsplace to provide some critical feedback. And I appologize to all those that suffered through my earliest writing efforts, but know that your input helped me improve. I fear no input, so let me know whether I should pursue another book, detailing more adventures of my Brothers (and Sisters). Visit www.thebrotherhoodofthefin.com to purchase your own copy OR, if you don't want to part with the cash, read the first chapter. (posted on my site). I am especially interested in what Coasties and other writers think.
congrats, creeker, on the pending publication of your book. thanks for the sneak peek at one of your chapters as well. i'm looking forward to reading the rest of the book.
Well done Jerry. I'll pick up a copy and support the brotherhood, its the least I could do. From what I read it looks great, hopefully you covered all the scandals back in Clearwater and if so, I would imagine MT would have an entire chapter dedicated to his infamous antics, with full color pictures for uh..um...duty night entertainment!
I just wish I could have deployed out of the back of a C-130 strapped to a jet ski, just once.
Scaff, Your in it, Remember the Memorial day of 2000? Between you, Troy and Doug, you guys set a standard that day.
Rob, Your right, If we had been hurling ourselves out of c-130's I'd still be in. Its hard to see what needs doing and not be able to make it happen.
Mario, Congrats on your promotion! After Marhta's book came out I had to go back to the drawing board (again). She covered much of the same ground as my original manuscript and did such an outstanding job, I would have felt like a hack had I not changed it. I concentrated on making it a memoir by removing the history (At least the historical parts that I wasn't directly envolved in). Thanks for your help in this project brother.

I do hope you told the whole truth of the GI incident. I was a victum I tell ya!!! Congrats Ger on getting the book finaly published. If there's any creeker out there that deserves fame and fortune it definatley would be you!!! Wished you'd of hung around a little longer but understand why you bailed. I'll give you a call in the near future, I have a care package ready to send your way!
Great Job! I knew you would get the book published. You have always found a way to do what you have set out to do, regardless(or irregardless) of any setbacks.
I'm hooked with the first page. I can't read the whole chapter now but I'm in the process of saving it on a USB key so I can read it whenever I get a chance at a computer. Great writing. I'll definitely be watching for this one.
If I buy this work of fiction you gonna autograph it for me? After all, I was 'only' a '130 guy and I KNOW all those GI stories are false...yeah, right... Where are you now?

PS I should have bought your Jeep to take to PR...
Good for you! I will look forward to reading it when it’s out. I tell people all the time that it was like a brotherhood. Can’t wait to read the Clearwater chapter. We had some real characters when you and I were there.
Good luck with the book.

Thanks! I read the book, very well written. I wore the t-shirt and had a few people ask about it. I gave you a good plug. I'm not a big fan of bumper stickers, but I will put yours on my truck. Where I park at Group New Orleans, everyone walks by and should see it. I hope it has a sucessful run on the bookshelves.
The first chapter is awesome. It brought a tear to my eye when you said that the flight mech is the most important position in the helicopter. That's good stuff man. I'll dole out some greenbacks for the cause.
Right when I opened the front cover and saw that you dedicated it to the flight mechs I knew this was going to be an emotional book. I loved it. Im going to school to be a helicopter rescue swimmer already and this book is very inspiring. I can relate to you with the whole water is your home. I have been surfing and swimming my whole life and its like putting me in the pool is giving me a break. This book is really good. I recomend it.
Hello All, Good to see you are all still alive and kicking!!! Congrats Jerry on the book I had to hear you were one day going to write, you are published. It's great to read from all the old "ASM" Clearwater shop. I hope life has been good to you all? Take good care and be well.
