AST is an enlisted rating. That means you cannot be both an AST and an officer.

i worked with a number of ASTs and AVTs that were eventually accepted to officer candidate school and received orders to flight school and became pilots.

if you're motivated to try one career and then the other, both goals are possible. good luck with your decisions! Wink

There really is no way to go to USCGA if you become an AST. By the time you get done with Boot camp, AN program, AST school, the serve your obligated 29 months as an AST you will be to old to go to the academy.

But like Old School said. You can got to OCS.
