Can you believe it was just a short 24 years ago this month, Steve, when we were starting up ASM class 10-85?

* UNOFFICIAL CLASS PHOTO *

(There's an ASMC and eventual CWO lurking in that middle cowboy...)

Sitka, Barbers Point, Kodiak, Clearwater, Savannah; you were an inspiration and good friend to many an airdale, Steve. Your swimmer skills are legendary; not to mention your mastering of the "free-style" free fall deployment:

I wish you all the very best as you prepare for retirement, Steve. Your career has been nothing short of incredible and I know you're chock full of amazing stories from your 30 years of service. I hope to belly up to the bar with you soon in Florida once you get settled in so we can swap a few of those good ol' tales. (similar to our pub crawl in Savannah, maybe?) Until then, congratulations once again, Steve. I'm certain I will be missing one hell of a retirement ceremony and gathering afterwards. May God continue to bless you and your family, mate.

Hello Scott! You are correct; I didn't realize my typo until the next day after posting. Those were some fun days at ATTC, eh?

Hey JD,

Unless Steve had video footage or photos, I deny being involved in any of his story versions... Big Grin

Glad you had the opportunity to meet up with Steve, JD. He's the man, the myth, the legend.

Puh-LEASE,

We were in Aviation Survival MAN Class-A school! You are looking at 5 of the most premium slabs of Stud Tar-Tar the USCG ever produced!

If you look closely, you'll see Dennis is holding a derringer to Steve's head.

Scott

P.S. Mario, do you still have the Conan Cartoon? I lost my copy. (Again).

I have that cartoon in a scrapbook somewhere; I'll try to dig it up and post it here. I believe the caption read:

"I've more riches to plunder, more wenches to bed, more grog to drink; much more, till at last my bones come to rest in some dark and dreary place..." Big Grin

Where are you calling home these days, Steve?

Hello Scott,

Here it is, laddie. Hard to believe we found this sitting in a locker of the squad bay at ATTC 24 years ago this month and it's still intact. I taped it to the inside of my locker at every air station I was assigned. It always reminded me of those good old days with our classmates and our stealth "A(sm) Team".
E-mail me if you'd like a bigger copy:

Steve Hathaway and Lumpy Lawson on the hook at the same time ................ it sure made the Dolphin roll to starboard and it made the hoist slow WAY down!! The torque requirement made the pilots pucker up, too!
