I'd say quicker even than our "firefightin' chief" from Tx who showed up here last summer, shipped to BC with a tude the size of Dallas, and made it all the way to his 9th day before he was kicked out of the USCG! If your not familiar Senior Chief that was a dig at some clown who showed up here with the same attitude and ended up back home working as a security guard at a grocery store exactly 10 days after he started his USCG career! -Jeff

Let me go out on a limb here, and make a guess that IF you make it into the CG, you want to go into the AST rating, and you won't give up blazing a doob.

So you're in you quarters, toking to high heaven when the SAR alarm goes off. You struggle to get in your gear and ultimately launch.

You get to jump into 15 foot seas to try to rescue eight crew members of a floundering boat.

Are you really up to that task?

As you said,

Save everyone's time. Find another line of work.

of course I'd give up blazing. when i said i liked to smoke weed i didnt mean i did it all the time.. what i meant was that at this point in time i have some marijuana in my system and its not an accident that its there.

i was asking the question so that i would know whether or not to reschedule my appointment at meps to a later date so i can pass the drug test and join the CG. so if someone could just answer the question that would be rad

why would you want to get into the military and continue to smoke?
sounds like a bunch of nonsense to me.

If I were you I'd reschedule your appointment. You're going to have to do a urinalysis and if you've smoked within the last month it will show. Give yourself a couple of months after the last time you smoked before you do the physical just to be sure. If you're serious about joining I'd play it safe. This is coming from someone who's going to boot soon so I was just at meps and I know how the drill goes.

CGTB:

I don't know what you know about the CG, but it is a premier maritime law enforcement agency and a military organization.

If you are caught with marijuana while a member of the military, you could get (1) five years imprisonment at hard labor, (2) forfeiture of all pay and allowances, (3) reduction to E-1, and (4) a Dishonorable Discharge.

You may have to apply for a security clearance. If you are not honest on the background paperwork, you could be masted for a False Statement.

There are quite a few legal ramifications.

If you are asked about illegal drug usage by your recruiter, and you lie (and are found out later on after enlisting), you can (and probably will) be masted on a Fraudulent Enlistment charge.

The CG regularly makes arrests for folks trying to smuggle into our country the stuff you're smoking.

You REALLY need to think about your priorities.

Your priority right now is to watch Aston K. in The Guardian and learn from his example.

That it's all about YOU and no one else. That we exist merely to allow you to waste others time, play Walter Mitty, etc.

If you were sincere, you wouldn't have even posted your question. You and Aston K. will make a great team... Roll Eyes

I will say what a person did prior to coming into the CG is history. Many Coasties have a past and turned out ok. That could be you. If you make it in, you get a fresh start on a good career. Your career will be short-lived if you come in and think you can out slick the system. Sooner or later, you'll get popped.

Good luck either way.
