Just something I'm curious about... I'm sure this differs from AST to AST, but what is going through your mind right before you freefall/hoist out of the helo?
I am pretty good at shutting whatever distractions that I may have at home or on the ground out of my mind. So, I am actively trying to pay attention to what I am doing at that exact moment. So I do not kill myself or anyone else. I am not going to lie and say that fear has never entered my heart...it has. I have been mad also....Some people are stupid, and that's why we get called. Fear is not that terrible it keeps me sharp. Anger, I have to becareful, and remember they are still humans who need help.
The number one thing I hope I never get in my mind is the thoughts that will make just a little too relaxed....like "this is going to be easy" or "I got this"
So it's different every time. But for the most part....
That makes sense; block out distractions and focus on the task at hand. I think anyone who will say they've never felt fear is full of it. Fear adds caution to courage (to quote a Royal Marines Commandos poster ) Thanks for the prompt response and insighful info as always Dog_Show.
