This might be long, but my husband needs some advice. He is in the navy and they measure him for his weight. He is 70inches and about 230lbs, but to give you an idea...the only fat he has on his body is only the mid section where most diabetics have the problem. Otherwise, if you were to try and pinch any fat anywhere on his body you wouldn't get any he is solid muscle built. He has all the signs, symptoms, and the skin condition of a diabetic. Every person on his moms side is diabetic and he is also hispanic. Basically we know he is diabetic. He is stationed to a ship and has went to medical and no one can seem to help him or give him a simple blood test. It's very upseting to me and aggervating. One of the military "perks" is supposed to be the medical. I cook all our meals, portion them, no snacks or sweets and he works out daily and it's an endless battle with his weight. On top of all his fatigue, headaches, skin problems with his feet and other areas, constant hunger and thirst...and so on. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do?? He NEEDS medicine for this before he gets worse...Apparently he says it's not like a doctors office you can't walk in and ask for a blood test. We were almost going to try just going to the military hospital here and saying I'm having all these problems and I need to be tested...but we don't want to get him in trouble with his command because they tell them they are not allowed to go anywhere except the ship. The ship does NOTHING for him...I'm tired of seeing him struggle with his headaches, weight, fatigue, and hunger...I can cook him a great organic diabetic meals, control all his carbs and sugars, but he needs the medicine. On top of trying to afford testing strips...the navy should be providing these!! So help?? Any suggestions for him?? What can we do.... Thanks for reading I know this was long.

I will tell you as pointedly as I can, your husband needs to immediately get on a pH diet to get his body alkaline! Every problem he has will be improved, if he gets alkaline. He will see results immediately. Get to a book store and get the book, "The pH Miracle" and/or "The pH Miracle for Diabetes." You can get him healthy even faster if you can get him a machine that makes hexagonal alkaline water. It is the fastest way to get your body hydrated and alkaline. It is too simple, and too important. Alkaline water is explained at << Mod Note - Link removed per Terms of Service >>

Yay, HealthMom ~

What you suggest in your 4 posts, today, is true. I agree. I read you loud and clear!

First, he needs to keep returning to sickbay and asking for a referral to the medical clinic at the base his command is stationed at. That failing, he needs to work the issue up his chain of command, if need be through request mast. He also needs to have his ducks in a row if he goes that route.

Second, and I'm no medical officer or Corpsman, but there may be more than one condition that displays the symptoms you're describing. Don't jump to conclusions.

Third, stay away from the fad diets, supplements, etc. Most of them are of dubious value at best.

Fourth, from what little I know (and I'm a lifetime member of the Fat Boy/Fat Girl program), guys tend to accumulate fat in the mid-section. I had the physical description of your husband with regard to height/weight and build. Learned to eat smarter and dropped 10" off my waist in 6 months with no change in my PT routine.

Lastly, depending on what the doctor finds when he finally does see one, it could be the end of his career in the service. Hate to sound harsh, but that is reality.

Good luck.

It's really quite simple. Does he know anyone who has a glucose testing kit where you stick your finger place the blood on a strip and the machine reads it. Two hours after a meal his blood sugar reading should be below 100. If it's higher, then he needs to be checked by a doctor. The VA told me they only need two readings above 140 and they consider you diabetic. Hope this helps.
