I'm trying to join the army. Started my process. My recruit taped me and said I have to loss an inch to meet the BMI %. For the weight requirement I'm actually about 15 lbs over. So tomorrow morning I'll be joining the gym. As of right now I can run 1 mile in about 9 mins and i can do 25push up in one min and 33 sit up. I'm trying to loss the inch quick and maybe loss enough weight to meet the requirement for when I actually ship out.( its unknown right now since I haven't gone to MEPs) I eat healthy so there no problem there just need to get active since I really had time to be active before because of school and work. I'm done with school now.

So I'm trying to set of a good routine for me but I need some help from people that done this before. I'm 5' 7" and weight 183lbs. I'm 21yrs old I don't know if that info is any useful.

All the help is appreciated.

I am astonished by the max weight for the Army. At 174 you will find your self loosing weight as you work out. I would aim for the prior service weight of 165 before you ship.

First, and most important, there is no quick way to remove weight, inches, etc. Also, make sure you have the concurrence of your personal physician to make sure you're healthy enough to start the routine.

You say you eat healthy - what do you mean by that? Are you talking choices, portion control, or ? If you're not already doing this, you should be watching not only what, but how much, you eat.

As to the physical training part, when you select a gym you can afford, see if they have trainers on staff that can help you set up a routine. If there is one that has military experience that would be a plus. Also, read the contract carefully to make sure you can break it if you go into boot camp before the contract expires. You can also look for and find routines that you can do at home if money is an issue for you. Not trying to offend you, but based on your comments you need a lot of work with regard to meeting the physical fitness standards.

Good luck.

Check out Edit- remove unathorized hyper link.

That's what I have been doing and I love it! It's so addicting. Some of it requires gym equipment.. but there is information about "Eva exercises" in the forums. Those exercises require no equpipment. Crossfit is a variety of a whole bunch of different exercises, and it really works on building up your core strength.
